“I scream. You scream. We all scream for ICE CREAM!”
You know, and you love it. It’s the Babcock Dairy Plant and Store on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.

A Mountain of Ice Cream
The Dairy Store is where one scoop is equal to three scoops at other ice cream shops. But there’s more to this dairy delight than just scoops.
This Wisconsin frozen favorite is still made on-site with the same recipe used since 1951. While the flavors have changed throughout the decades, the smiles after that first lick have not.
When visiting, you will be faced with quite possibly your most challenging question of the day –
What flavor do I choose?
Typically 22 flavors are ranging from Union Utopia (vanilla ice cream with swirls of peanut butter, caramel, and fudge) to Badger Blast (chocolate ice cream with fudge swirls and dark chocolate flakes) to Orange Custard Chocolate Chip (orange-flavored custard with chocolate flakes). Of course, for you plain people, they do have vanilla.
More than Ice Cream
Babcock Hall is not just ice cream. Also producing award-winning cheeses and milk, it carries on its tradition of producing quality dairy products while conducting research, teaching, and outreach in the dairy industry.
So the next time you are in Madison, swing by The Dairy Store at 1605 Linden Drive in Madison for breakfast or lunch and get a couple of scoops of Wisconsin’s best.
Remember, any time is the right time for ice cream.
