Shoutout to All the Municipal Clerks Out There

The week of May 2nd to May 8th, 2021 is the 52nd Annual Professional Municipal Clerks Appreciation Week.

According to a proclamation from the office of Gov. Tony Evers, Wisconsin has 1,854 municipal clerks that serve across the state. Municipal clerks are crucial to the administration of elections as their duties include preparing ballots, training election officials, and tabulating and certifying election results.

After a difficult 2020 that included three elections conducted under pandemic conditions — including a highly controversial April election right at the start of the pandemic that featured Speaker of the Wisconsin State Assembly Robin Vos in a hazmat suit — municipal clerks deserve more recognition than ever before.
