Democratic campaign strategist veteran, Joe Zepecki, is back on the show for the full hour. We talk Jim Troupis, Tennessee’s crappy anti-LGBTQ bills, Wisconsin Supreme Court race, the budget, and even some book recommendations.
Guest: Joe Zepecki
Democratic campaign veteran and strategist and friend of the show, Joe Zepecki, joins for the entire first hour. He kicks off our “Ticked Off Tee Off” by breaking down why Jim Troupis being reappointed to the Judicial Advisory Committee is such a disappointment.
If you can’t remember why you should know who Jim Troupis is, here is a quick refresh:
a former Dane County circuit judge, Troupis was hired by Trump’s campaign to oversee recounts of ballots cast in Dane and Milwaukee counties after Trump’s loss in 2020 and sought to overturn the result by throwing out hundreds of thousands of ballots including his own and his wife’s. He was one of the first to learn of a scheme to put in place Republican electors in states where Trump was trying to overturn election results, receiving a memo on Nov. 18, 2020, outlining the strategy.
U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson in June said he had coordinated with Troupis to pass along to Pence a document Troupis described as regarding “Wisconsin electors” on the morning of Jan. 6, 2021. A staff member of Pence’s rejected the offer, according to evidence released last year by a U.S. House Committee investigating the attack on the U.S. Capitol that occurred the same day.
So yeah, not the best guy to reappoint.
Joe also gives his takes on the Wisconsin Supreme Court race including Judge Janet’s announcement that she would not hear cases brought by the Wisconsin Democratic Party because it has donated $2.5 million to her campaign. Whereas Dan Kelly has maintained that we would decide on a case by case basis.
We also discuss Governor Evers Budget proposal and why that amount of spending is justified after years of underfunding so many programs.
And we end on some Zepecki Book recommendations:
