Raising the Social Security age

A panel of House Republicans released a budget proposal yesterday which included is a provision that would gradually raise Social Security’s full retirement age – the age at which people are eligible for full Social Security benefits to 69; up from the current level of 67 for those born in 1960 or later. We spend time discussing the question, when will it ever be palatable to raise the age for Social Security?

Then we race through a rundown of everything that is going down in Madison as the Legislature tries to nail down our budget, including:

• The Legislature passing the share bill aimed at averting Milwaukee financial crisis
• Speaker Vos arguing why limiting government spending on DEI isn’t racist
• Gov. Evers threatening to veto any budget that includes a $32m cut to the UW System
• On a positive note, the Legislature also approved a series of housing related bills and vote to boost road funding, which would include an increase to the electric vehicle fee.

And we end with the inflation inducing power of Beyonce.
